Exploring Mindfulness: Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity of the Sun in the Age project

The Learning, Teaching, and Training Activity (LTTA) in Reus, Spain is a provisioned activity within the implementation of the blended training program which is targeted at adult trainers and elderly learners. The activity was hosted by project’s partner DomSpain. The LTTA focused on the core structure and guidelines for implementation of the project’s blended training modules of mindfulness practices for the elderly learners. The participants represented different partners’ organizations from Lithuania, Germany, Italy, Greece, Spain, and North Macedonia. The agenda comprised eight sessions, which aimed to provide a comprehensive overview of mindfulness practices training and their benefits.
On the first day, participants arrived at the Espai Boule venue excited to share knowledge and practices. The day’s schedule begun with a warm welcoming mindfulness exercise facilitated by one of project’s expert stakeholders Mrs. Irene Serrat. The training activities started with the session, “Introduction to Mindfulness and its General Benefits”, which familiarized the participants with the concept and origins of mindfulness. The next session, “Understanding Mindfulness”, was conducted by p-consulting and examines main beneficial attributes of mindfulness practices both for trainers, health care workers and elderly learners in various learning settings.
The second day of the LTTA began with “Implementation of Mindful Practices” session, presented by Polygonal. The session highlighted the key techniques for implementing mindfulness in daily life. Several exercises and techniques were introduced for empowerment and training enhancement for educators. The following session, “Theory of Workshop Implementation”, by Wisamar, focused on the methodology and framework settings of conducting mindfulness workshops. The final session of the day was “Lessons Learnt” by GDU, in which the participants examined best practices and real-life examples of mindfulness practices and techniques.

The third and final day began with the “Daily Practical Application and Integration Part 1” session conducted by DomSpain. In this session, participants were trained on how to integrate mindfulness practices into their daily routines. The final session of the day, “Daily Practical Application and Integration Part 2” by ZISPB, continued further on the topic and familiarized the participants with another set of exercises and techniques. The day came to its closure by sharing ideas and further conclusive insights among participants and partners’ representatives as to how to finalise and finetuning the training materials.

The LTTA hosted in Reus, Spain, was a highly informative and interactive event that brought together organizations from different countries aiming to delve deeper in mindfulness practices. Through the 3-days sessions, the participants interchanged know how in implementing mindfulness practices and further support adult educators and elderly learners in their daily lives. In short, the LTTA was a successful event that inspired the participants to further finetune the training materials that will be shortly available in English an partners’ languages.
