On Monday 1 April 2019 in the Chamber of Achaia, was organized with great success the Workshop “Let’s discuss about Dementia …” by p-consulting and the University of Patras.
This Workshop was organized in the context of the implementation of the European DEAL Project (Dementia, Education, Approach, Life), which aims at training professionals and caregivers of people with dementia.
The workshop included a presentation of the DEAL Project, which was made by Panagiotis G. Anastasopoulos and Charitini-Maria Skoulidi of p-consulting, and then a presentation by the Assistant Professor of Psychiatry of Rion Hospital, Mr. Panagiotis Alexopoulos, on topic:
“Neurotic disorders: They concern us all”.
Then followed different roundtables of discussion, with topics such as “Sleep and Bioethics Challenges“, “Caregivers of People with Dementia: The Hidden / Silent Patients?” and “Managing Symptoms of Dementia: Challenges and Dilemmas“, coordinators of which were Professor of Hygiene, University of Patras, Mr. Apostolos Vadarakis, Ms. Christina Malfa, Assistant Professor of Psychiatry Rion Hospital, Mr. Panagiotis Alexopoulos and Psychiatrist and Responsible MFA “Aeneas” Ms. Georgia Vukelatou.
Following the completion of the workshop, the conclusions of the roundtables were presented.
The attendance of the participans was particularly intense, resulting very interesting conclusions on an issue that is often a taboo in our society, and it will certainly be of great concern in the future.
