Palette
We wear clothes designed in Italy but manufactured in China. We drive German cars, and Japanese motorbikes. We cook French and Spanish recipes, and we learn to speak the words that other people use to communicate. We share our schools with kids from other countries, that dream of a future in ours, we co-exist in our work with other nationalities, and our neighborhoods are full of wonderful colors, playful smells, and sounds waiting to be discovered. A beautiful swirl, originating thousands of years back, gathering, collecting, and embracing more in the process, creating eventually an amazing palette.
Coming to this
Thousands and thousands of years of populations movements, blending of traditions, religions, and habits, exchange of know-how and expertise, cultures, and history. The world is not a straight, grey line, never was it. Rather millions and millions of them, a mix of colors they carry, running and flying, blending, and swirling with each other; a maypole of evolution.
Humankind progressed on this exact maypole. Along our history as a species, we evolved by coming together and understanding the lessons of the past. And our Heritage is the most important of them all.
The Case Of i-School
i-School focuses on integrating European Cultural Heritage in primary and secondary education, via creating a network of action, between schools, students and educators, and cultural institutions. One of the most important aspects of the Erasmus+ project, is the development of engaging and innovative digital tools.
Through the mentioned tools, the project aims to build a concrete basis on educators’ competences and skills, regarding the integration of Cultural Heritage matters in the educational procedure, while at the same time engaging students’ interest on the subject, by developing an educational game. An innovative educational eco-system is thus born, playing its part on the transformation and evolution of educational practices.
The Meeting
22.09.2022, and it was obvious that the summer had left its mark on all of us. A rather beautiful mark too. Everyone was happy and fresh, carrying the joy and distinct energy that always accompanies those 3, so special months. After a quick catch-up on summertime adventures (those that could be told), we got right to business.
The main cornerstones of the conversation were two. On one hand the Educational Platform, that is under development as we speak, which focuses on equipping primary and secondary school teachers with the required skills and competencies on Cultural Heritage matters, as a way to increase opportunities and open doors of collaboration with cultural and creative institutions. On the other hand, we took a close look at the educational game’s macrostructure. A game that will engage students on the subject, and offer them valuable knowledge on history and cultural matters. Its main aspects and details were agreed upon, and yes, rather soon, the development will begin!
On The Road Again
With each passing day, we come closer to the reification of what i-School has to offer. The next steps are so exciting to be walked, as excited we are for what is ahead. You will soon have important and exciting updates, as the second Transnational Project Meeting in Italy approaches!
