The 2nd transnational meeting of AIDA took place in Patras

Physical meeting after a long time

Physical transnational meetings are very important for the implementation of European projects. But the pandemic put a brake on our physical meetings. So, for a long time the meetings were held exclusively online.

With the current COVID-19 situation always in mind, the AIDA project team decided to slowly return to normality. To do so, they held the 2nd transnational meeting in Patras, with physical attendance, on 15th and 16th of November.

The 2nd Transnational meeting was implemented and monitored by p-consulting.gr.

The present and the future of the project

During the meeting, partners focused on what has been created and the next steps of the project.

First, they discussed about the guide for “the Identification of the needs and characteristics of the elderly with Intellectual Difficulties (IDs)”. This guide draws a map that clearly indicates:

  • the kind of bio-psycho-social needs that the group of the elderly with IDs have
  • the main characteristics of the elderly with IDs and the differences between those and the common characteristics of the entire age group
  • the technical skills that professionals working with the elderly with IDs have to acquire
  • the most appropriate ergonomic and cognitive accessibility adaptations to respond to the identified needs.

Also they discussed about the development of the “online training programme for professionals involved in the care of older people with IDs”.

Specifically, they discussed and exchanged feedback on the following modules:

  • Strategies for emotional management
  • Third wave therapies for people with intellectual difficulties
  • Dementia and Cognitive impairment
  • Self-governance. Self-determination and autonomy of persons with IDs
  • Workshops and activities in order to foster the active ageing

Finally, p-consulting.gr, presented the structure of the e-platform to be developed.
