Training program for the trainers of caregivers of people with dementia
An innovative training program for the trainers of caregivers of people with dementia was developed in the framework of implementation of the European project “D-Care: Respite and Respect”.
The training program focuses on Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), which aims at supporting people with dementia to improve their memory and thinking skills and to cope with memory loss.
The training program consists of 6 modules, which are the following:
- Introduction to the course
- Dementia Types and appropriate therapies
- Understanding CST
- CST Principles and Sessions
- Other versions of CST
- The Dementia Friendly Home and effective Communication
Professionals from Greece, Italy, Spain, United Kingdom, Belgium and Denmark with expertise in dementia, collaborated to write the educational material.
The training program is available online in English, Greek, Italian, Danish and Spanish, through the project’s digital training platform.
In Greece, the training is foreseen to be implemented in September 2021. Project partners from Greece are p-consulting.gr and Koi.S.P.E. “Faros”.
