With the <strong>guidance<\/strong> and help of an<strong> experienced professional<\/strong>, someone can obtain new possibilities and prospects that before not even imagined. Many times, however, there is a confusion about what exactly is meant by the term <strong>mentoring<\/strong> and what by the term <strong>coaching<\/strong>. Very often, these terms are identified as equal by some who mistakenly believe that mentoring and coaching is the same.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">What is the difference between mentoring and coaching?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">It is important to mention that both mentoring and coaching are\u00a0equally important sources of knowledge and experience. The prosedures simply differ in their approach to the dissemination of <strong>knowledge<\/strong> and the <strong>improvement<\/strong> of the individual.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Difference #<\/strong><strong>No<\/strong><strong>1: Approach<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Mentoring<\/strong> gives attention to the <strong>relationship<\/strong> between mentor and mentee while <strong>coaching<\/strong> gives emphasis on <strong>project completion<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If someone chooses the mentoring, will have the opportunity through his personal relationship with the entrepreneur, to learn and acquire skills within a protected environment that will ensure the <strong>knowledge<\/strong> and <strong>experience<\/strong> of the mentor.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">With coaching, the prosedure focuses on specific issues and <strong>results<\/strong> and how these can be achieved.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Difference # No2: Time<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The mentoring in order to be successful must be <strong>long term<\/strong>, since a key element is the creation of a relationship of trust and understanding between mentor and mentee.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">By contrast, the coaching can be completed, when<strong> the objectives have been achieved<\/strong>. The coaching completion may take even few sessions.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Difference # No3: Results<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>The main purpose of mentoring is the <strong>gradual<\/strong> improvement and overall development of the person both during the mentoring, and during the rest of his professional career.<\/p>\n<p>Coaching is based on the individual&#8217;s <strong>performance<\/strong> in specific tasks and skills, and when those skills reach the desirably results, the coach is no longer necessary.<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Difference # No4: Planning<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Mentoring is based on an strategically selected planning, which will <strong>gradually<\/strong> create a relationship of trust between mentor and mentee, and will guide the second.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Coaching with the creation of\u00a0a simple plan, can begin <strong>immediately<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>What training process to choose?<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The choice between the two actions is not easy, and sometimes, it is not easily distinguishable, what\u00a0the learner really needs.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4><strong>Identification of needs.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">If the person is able to <strong>specifically identify his\u00a0needs<\/strong>, the <strong>coaching<\/strong> is appropriate for him. If someone does not have a specific need, but needs <strong>advice<\/strong> and <strong>guidance<\/strong> then <strong>mentoring<\/strong> fits him the best.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h4 style=\"text-align: justify;\"><strong>Experimentation.<\/strong><\/h4>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The combination of the two training\u00a0actions are not prohibitive, but quite the contrary.
