What is the importance of social entrepreneurship in today’s economic environment?<\/h2>\n

Lately, people pay attention to social entrepreneurship<\/strong>, its importance, its difference from the\u00a0classical entrepreneurship and the impact it has in the society<\/strong> and the economy<\/strong> of a country, but also the entire planet.<\/p>\n

But what do we mean by the term social entrepreneurship?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

As social entrepreneurship<\/a>, is defined the use of enterprise techniques in start-up and existing businesses in order to develop, fund and implement solutions to the social, cultural and environmental problems, that the government is unable to solve through grated entrepreneurship species.\u00a0So social enterprises are businesses that try\u00a0to fill the gap that speculative enterprises are not interested to engage and at the same time to offer jobs to people with disabilities.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Why is so\u00a0important the social entrepreneurship?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

Social entrepreneurship, if is designed and operated properly, it can help address major problems concerning both society<\/strong> and the environment<\/strong>. Simultaneously, social entrepreneurship can contribute to the development<\/strong> of each country and in their entirety (European<\/strong> Union<\/strong>).\u00a0Conventional businesses but also the goverment, in many cases, are not able to give effective solution to issues such as unemployment<\/strong>, social inequality<\/strong>, environmental<\/strong> problems<\/strong>, poverty<\/strong> e.t.c. (as the profit margin in such activities is limited). The support of vulnerable social groups, until recently, considered as a\u00a0goverment’s\u00a0responsibility and not involvement field of enterprises, a fact that social enterprises\u00a0seek to change in Greece. In other Western countries social enterprises\u00a0have done a\u00a0considerable success until now.<\/p>\n

The difference to conventional business?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

 <\/p>\n

Conventional businesses measure their performance based primarily on revenues<\/strong> and profits<\/strong>. In the case of social enterprises, which main goal is to offer<\/strong> to the society<\/strong> and the environment<\/strong>, such measurements will not export the appropriate results. Often, a big\u00a0amount\u00a0of these enterprises revenues, are\u00a0based on donations<\/strong> and grants<\/strong>. However, the social enteprises have to\u00a0develop an economic system<\/strong> and business model<\/strong> that will generate profits, because if financial sources do not exist\u00a0the company will stop working.<\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Gradually then, these enterprises should become independent and use economic tools to make known their work and be able to continue their activity. A common phenomenon that is observed, is the denial<\/strong> or unawareness<\/strong> of social entrepreneurs to attract customers<\/strong> or investors<\/strong> and thereby receive income.<\/p>\n

The social enterprises are also enterprises that\u00a0need income<\/strong>, a proper business<\/strong> structure<\/strong>, planning<\/strong>, organization<\/strong>, management<\/strong> and control<\/strong> to continue their business activity.<\/p>\n

In modern economic and business environment, such obstacles are easier to overcome, since there are experts<\/strong> who easily can share knowledge and experiences and provide promotion<\/strong> and operation<\/strong> of the social enterprises.<\/p>\n

In an economic environment that is constantly changing, problems and social inequality should not remain static. With the help of\u00a0entrepreneurship, solutions can be given to important social and environmental issues, in order not to break the consistency of the society.<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
