The modern working<\/strong> and business<\/strong> environment, is changing and because of this, the need for more sophisticated<\/strong> and competitive<\/strong> enterprises has become imperative. This is not a coincidence.\u00a0Therefore, are made efforts to strengthen business competitiveness through new forms of activities and innovative<\/strong> forms of cooperation. A\u00a0new form of such an innovative action, are the well known business clusters<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n But what are the business clusters actually?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n Business clusters are forms of cooperation between enterprises<\/strong> and other organizations<\/strong> (universities, research institutes, professional associations, chambers etc.), which are co-located<\/strong> in a specific geographical area. They\u00a0are connected<\/strong> by providing interdependent groups of products and \/ or services. In that way, they promote innovation<\/strong> and competitiveness<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n What are the main characteristics of these clusters?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n The companies that are members of a cooperative enterprise formation should be geographically close<\/strong> in order to achieve<\/strong> the direct dissemination<\/strong> of information.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n In order to be successful the cooperation between the members of a cluster, all members\u00a0should share common goals<\/strong>, to take advantage from the geographical proximity\u00a0<\/strong>and linkages<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The benefits of such a cooperation, cannot be occurred since\u00a0a medium sized enterprise does not collaborate with others. Some of these benefits, are the sharing of buildings<\/strong> and facilities<\/strong>, the qualified staff<\/strong> and information<\/strong> as well as the knowledge<\/strong> and expertise<\/strong>.\u00a0Certainly, we need to mention, that the work on a common subject and the geographical proximity is not enough. To achieve the positive results of a business cooperation, \u00a0it must\u00a0be achieved first the proper interaction<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n The relations between business-entities, should be flexible<\/strong> and the participation in cooperative formation equal<\/strong>. It is also important,\u00a0the existence of a sufficient number<\/strong> of participants\u00a0and as a result\u00a0a significant impact on the performance of companies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n <\/p>\n Engaging in a business cooperative formation, does not prevent fair competition<\/strong> among the participating members, and it is not necessary the enterprises to be active in the same business sector<\/strong>. The clusters are neither associations<\/strong> nor mergers<\/strong> of companies.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n What are the benefits of penetration in a collaborative formation?<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n <\/p>\n As we have already mentioned, the grouping of businesses, when is done properly and with the right incentives<\/strong>, offer valuable access to specialized<\/strong> labor markets<\/strong>, knowledge<\/strong> and information<\/strong> transfer, access to more suppliers<\/strong>, the power to achieve better economic efficiency<\/strong> and the continuous exchange of expertise<\/strong>, thanks to the interaction between customers and specialist suppliers.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n Depending on the needs and scope of business-carriers, there are many different types of clusters. Other networks aim to achieve scale economy<\/strong> (bulk orders and achievement of cost reduction), value added<\/strong> (concentration \u00a0of competences and expertise towards businesses outside the cluster) or even management of specific territories<\/strong>.<\/p>\n <\/p>\n The purpose of the creation of clusters, is to increase the competitive advantage of enterprises and to deal with the increasing demands of modern economic reality.
