From tradition to innovation: Co-designing tourism

p-consulting.gr successfully completed two online workshops as part of the European AGORA (Erasmus+) project, focusing on Regenerative Tourism and the opportunities it offers to local communities. The workshops took place on June 26 and July 24, 2025, and brought together ten participants from the tourism and cultural ecosystem of the wider region of Achaia.

The first workshop presented the basic principles of regenerative tourism and the educational tools developed by the AGORA project: the interactive map with examples from across Europe, the Regenerative Tourism experiences Guide, and the seven educational modules of the online platform. Through discussions and group exercises, participants identified the challenges and opportunities in their region.

The second workshop was purely practical. Participants worked in groups using the project’s tools and working models to design a new tourism experience and adapt an existing local proposal based on the principles of sustainability and innovation. Through the co-design process, creative ideas emerged, such as an alternative Carnival experience and a revamped wine festival with an emphasis on sustainable practices.

The results of the workshops showed that the combination of culture, local production, and digital technologies can breathe new life into tourism in our region. Participants emphasized the need for collaboration with the municipality agents of the region, local producers, and universities, as well as access to financial and technological tools.

The proposals that were created will soon be available in the AGORA LAB section of the project website, as examples that can inspire other communities in Greece and Europe.
