COOPSKILLS: Building Learning Companies

We are glad to introduce our new Erasmus+ project, COOPSKILLS.

COOPSKILLS is designed to reshape how local communities and businesses approach lifelong learning, upskilling, and workforce transformation. Spanning 36 months and implemented by a consortium of 12 partners from Greece, Cyprus, Poland, Lithuania, and Spain, the project offers a powerful response to one of the most pressing challenges of our time: how to prepare individuals and local economies for the green and digital transitions in a fast-changing world of work.

At the heart of COOPSKILLS lies the innovative concept of “Learning Companies”, an extension of UNESCO’s “Learning Cities” framework. Learning Companies are envisioned as workplaces that integrate education and training into their core functions, turning every work environment into a space for personal and professional growth.

To support this transformation, COOPSKILLS is establishing a network of “Reskilling Labs” at the municipal level. These labs will be managed collaboratively by key local stakeholders such as municipalities, chambers of commerce, VET providers, and business associations. Their purpose is to offer tailored reskilling and upskilling opportunities for job seekers, with a particular focus on those most vulnerable to exclusion—unemployed individuals, people in transition from declining sectors, low-skilled workers, and adults who may be hesitant to re-enter education.

The COOPSKILLS project aims not only to deliver practical tools—such as a framework for becoming a Learning Company, operational toolkits for setting up Reskilling Labs, and custom training modules—but also to promote a cultural shift in how lifelong learning is perceived and practiced. By fostering long-term partnerships between public institutions, private businesses, and education providers, the project aspires to create inclusive ecosystems where learning becomes a shared responsibility and a community-wide priority.

Ultimately, COOPSKILLS is about more than training; it’s about empowering local actors and building resilient regions that are ready for the future. It speaks directly to businesses, educators, local authorities, policy makers, and individuals who believe that learning should not end at school, but thrive in every stage of life.

Follow our journey as we empower people, transform workplaces, and shape a future where learning leads the way.
