On Monday, 28 April 2025, the GreenVET community gathered virtually for its third and final online workshop—an inspiring culmination of months of hard work, innovation, and collaboration. VET schools from Greece, Cyprus, Germany, Latvia, Slovenia, Italy, and Egypt came together to celebrate their shared progress and exchange insights on embedding sustainability into vocational education through the lens of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
The atmosphere throughout the event was electric, with each school delivering dynamic three-minute presentations that showcased the sustainability practices they had cultivated over time. These snapshots offered a vivid tapestry of creativity and commitment—from pioneering zero-waste strategies in Culinary Arts and building rooftop herb gardens to cutting food waste in school cafeterias and launching biodiesel initiatives from used cooking oil. Whether designing Hugelkultur garden beds, managing community apple orchards, or experimenting with solar energy and aeroponics, the variety of projects reflected not only local action but a united vision for global impact.
What stood out was the strong student involvement across all initiatives. Learners weren’t just participants; they were changemakers—leading campaigns, conducting scientific inquiries, and developing hands-on solutions to real-world challenges. Their efforts underscored the power of vocational education when it’s anchored in purpose, relevance, and sustainability.
Far from being a passive event, the workshop encouraged active engagement. Participants shared feedback, offered reflections on implementation challenges, and exchanged ideas on how different strategies could be adapted in their own contexts. This spirit of collaboration enriched the session, reinforcing the sense that the GreenVET network is not just a project, but a thriving, supportive community.
The event closed with a look toward the future, yet highlighting the already released GreenVET Framework, Green Futures: Navigating Sustainability in Vocational Education and Training, and a comprehensive database featuring resources such as media coverage, research papers, and policy contributions.
At p-consulting.gr, we warmly thank IEK DELTA 360 and IEK SBIE, along with their committed administrators, educators, and students, for their outstanding participation in the GreenVET project. Their dedication, enthusiasm, and high-quality contributions have significantly advanced sustainability within their VET institutions, setting a remarkable example for others to follow.
Stay tuned as our GreenVET team is heading to Cori, Italy, in mid-May for the 3rd Transnational Project Meeting, where the journey toward greener vocational education continues!
