As part of the consortium of the Erasmus+ KA2 AGORA project, we are presenting the AGORA Interactive Map, a new tool designed and developed to highlight various regenerative tourism practices across Europe and beyond. Based on the definitions and criteria set by UN World Tourism Organization and GSTC (Global Sustainable Tourism Council), we have performed our best collecting exemplary experiences, not from our countries and Europe alone, but widened the geographical scope beyond. The outcome is this platform that allows users to explore inspiring stories and innovative solutions that are shaping a sustainable and regenerative future for tourism.

Exploring three (3) Distinct Categories of Regenerative Practices
- Community Tourism Experiences: Online visitors are invited to discover practises implemented by communities (local associations, clubs, or local authorities/agents etc.) aiming to positively impact local environments, mindsets, economies, and cultures. These experiences unite individuals and groups to foster sustainable and regenerative tourism practices, creating meaningful connections within communities.
- Virtual Experiences: In today’s digital era, technological applications, and tools (e.g. VR and AI tools) significantly advance tourism sustainability efforts. Explore virtual initiatives that leverage technology, data, and online networks to promote regenerative tourism practices. From virtual tours to interactive platforms, these examples showcase how innovation can drive positive change in the tourism industry.
- Local Producers: Rooted in the essence of place and culture, local producers are the backbone of grassroots movements in regenerative tourism excellence. Learn about the inspiring stories of individuals, small businesses, and organizations working at the local level to promote sustainable practices, preserve cultural heritage and offer visitors fulfilling experiences.
Compelling Stories that inspire
As online users navigate through the interactive map, they will encounter motivating stories of communities, tech innovators, and local people dedicated to transforming, rejuvenating, and reinventing the tourism sector. From conservation efforts to community-based tourism initiatives, each story exemplifies collective efforts towards a more sustainable and regenerative future for tourism.
User- friendly experience component
To facilitate exploration, users can view practices given the option to browse through by category or keyword. This user-friendly component ensures a personalized experience, allowing users to discover relevant practices based on their specific interests, focus, and preferences.
The AGORA Interactive Map serves as a dynamic platform for discovering regenerative tourism practices in Europe and beyond. By highlighting innovative solutions and success stories, this tool inspires individuals and communities to participate in the movement towards a more sustainable and inclusive tourism industry.
For the moment the AGORA Interactive Map is available in English but in the near future it will also be available in French, Spanish, Italian, Greek, Bulgarian, and Finnish. Stay tuned for more updates and follow us for the latest developments.
