On 24 April, we celebrated International Girls in ICT Day, a global initiative aimed at encouraging more girls and young women to pursue studies and careers in Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Despite progress in recent years, women continue to be underrepresented in STEM and ICT fields, and the digital gender divide remains a challenge.
As a company that promotes inclusive innovation, we actively participate in initiatives that support equal participation in the digital economy. One of these is our involvement in the European project EmpowerAI, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme.
The EmpowerAI project aims to empower female entrepreneurs and VET trainers by providing them with the knowledge and tools to understand and effectively use Artificial Intelligence in both business and education. Through a self-paced online training programme and a practical AI tools database, the project helps women overcome the hesitation often caused by limited technological experience or confidence.
On this global awareness day, we reflect on how projects like EmpowerAI can contribute to bridging the digital gender divide and ensuring that no woman is left behind in the transition to digital transformation.
Let’s continue building a future where girls and women have equal opportunities to lead, create, and innovate in the tech world.
