From April 8th to 10th, 2025, the University of Aveiro hosted a key Learning Teaching Training Activity (LTTA) within the Erasmus+ KA2 GUIDE project. The event brought together partners and experts to explore gender-sensitive approaches in career guidance through the training programme already developed in English, with a rich agenda that combined expert-led modules and interactive discussions.
The training opened with a warm welcome at UNAVE, followed by an introduction to the GUIDE project and its objectives. The first round table featured guest speakers from academic institutions and public employment services, who shared challenges in integrating gender-sensitive practices in career support. Their insights set the tone for critical reflection on how systemic inequalities and cultural norms shape career choices.
Module 1, led by CCIS, introduced the core principles of gender sensitivity in career guidance. This session laid the foundation for all discussions, encouraging participants to reflect on how unconscious biases can influence career advice. Interactive group activities followed, fostering dialogue and shared experiences among participants.
The second day, hosted at the ATLAS – Aveiro Municipal Library, deepened the conversation. A morning round table gathered professionals from policy-making bodies, and gender advocacy organizations that shared real-life cases. They highlighted how labour market inequalities persist and why inclusive career support matters. Later, Module 2 by Wisamar focused on gender equality in the labour market, exploring statistical trends and policy gaps. Module 3, delivered by DomSpain, introduced a practical assessment tool to help detect gender stereotypes in career decision-making processes, offering participants hands-on experience with its application.
On April 10th, the group returned to UNAVE for a dynamic final day. After another round table discussion—with representatives from higher education stakeholders—the training moved into Module 4 by UCL, centred on co-creation and raising gender awareness through collaborative methods. Module 5, presented by EIDP, guided participants through the practical steps for implementing gender-sensitive career guidance and designing inclusive career pathways.
The LTTA concluded with our presentation of the GUIDE project’s training platform, followed by a lively feedback session. Participants shared their impressions, suggestions, and ideas for future actions.
Throughout the three days, the modules and discussions created a space of reflection, learning, and commitment to equity in education and career support. The GUIDE project continues to build momentum, empowering institutions and professionals to lead change in the field of career guidance with a gender-aware lens.
