From 13 to 15 May 2025, the city of Bilbao hosted a dynamic Learning Teaching Training Activity (LTTA) as part of the EmpowerAI project, offering women entrepreneurs and VET trainers the opportunity to explore how artificial intelligence can be applied in entrepreneurship and education.
The first day began with an introduction to the project and the goals of the event, followed by a presentation of the EmpowerAI Compendium – an accessible online platform that includes AI tools for key business areas, interviews with female entrepreneurs, case studies of successful AI implementations, a space for sharing ideas, and a report on the current state of female entrepreneurship and AI adoption in the partner countries.
The day concluded with a visit to the Bilbao Berrikuntza Faktoria, an innovation hub that inspired participants to reflect on the connection between technology and entrepreneurship.
The second day focused on experiential learning. Participants worked on the first chapter of the e-learning course, which explores core concepts of AI, the challenges that may arise during its adoption, and critical topics such as data security and the ethical dimensions of technology. In parallel, they engaged in activities related to generative AI, prompting techniques, and the application of AI in realistic business scenarios.
The day ended with a visit to DEMA Bizkaia, the public body that supports entrepreneurship in the region.
The third and final day centred around the second chapter of the e-learning course, titled “I’m an AI Model”. Participants explored how AI can be practically applied to early-stage businesses. They worked through selecting appropriate tools, designing personalised AI strategies, and integrating AI into daily operations. Through hands-on exercises and group discussions, they addressed the challenges and concerns that often accompany the adoption of AI, as well as the opportunities it offers for growth and innovation.
The event concluded with a visit to the Guggenheim Museum – an inspiring finale that brought together technology, creativity, and art.
The Bilbao activity marked a key milestone in the EmpowerAI project, contributing to the testing and evaluation of the training materials. Through collaboration, practical application, and exchange of experiences, the project demonstrated that AI could become a valuable tool for small businesses and education – provided it is grounded in knowledge, clear objectives, and accessibility for all.
