On 28 January 2025, the GreenVET Community of Practice convened for its highly anticipated 2nd Online Workshop, bringing together educators, administrators, and sustainability advocates from across Europe. The two-hour event proved to be a dynamic and inspiring platform, driving forward the mission of embedding green practices within vocational education and training (VET) institutions.
The workshop focused on supporting our GreenVET teams in improving their action plans, overcoming challenges, and sharing innovative solutions. The agenda, packed with expert presentations, breakout discussions, and collaborative activities, left participants energized and equipped with actionable insights.
This was the first team our Community of Practice met each other again after the successful 3-day workshop everyone attended in Espoo, Finland, during the first week of November 2024. That event laid a strong foundation for collaboration, and this online workshop continued to build on those connections, reigniting the enthusiasm and shared commitment to green education. The participants reflected on how the in-person experience in Espoo helped create a sense of trust and unity that made the online session even more productive and engaging.
Starting off our online workshop, the teams shared their progress on implementing sustainability within their institutions. Highlights included examples of innovative green initiatives, such as waste-reduction programs, renewable energy installations, and eco-friendly curriculum integrations. The updates demonstrated tangible progress and a growing commitment to sustainability across schools.
Next, experts from participating countries addressed common obstacles faced by schools. Practical advice was offered on topics like engaging colleagues and students and effectively launching green initiatives. Participants praised these insights for their relevance and applicability.
Finally, breakout sessions allowed attendees to exchange ideas, brainstorm solutions, and learn from each other’s experiences. Many participants reported that the discussions fostered new perspectives and strategies for overcoming their challenges.
The workshop was designed to be inclusive, with automated subtitles and translation features ensuring accessibility for all attendees. The interactive format, combined with the supportive atmosphere, encouraged active participation and meaningful dialogue.
Participants expressed high levels of satisfaction with the event, praising its focus on practical solutions and collaborative spirit. The feedback gathered before the workshop also played a crucial role in shaping the discussions, ensuring that the event addressed the real needs and priorities of the GreenVET Community.
The GreenVET team extends its gratitude to all participants and experts who made the event a resounding success. The community looks forward to our 3rd and final workshop where collaboration will continue to drive progress toward a greener and more sustainable future.
