On Wednesday, October 3 2018, an informative Multiplier Event entitled “Accessible Tourism” was organized in the premises of the Achaia Chamber in Patras.
P-consulting.gr, in the framework of the implementation of the European Project GROWMAT – Growing the Market in Accessible Tourism (Erasmus+ KA2 Program), organized this event to inform about accessibility issues related to tourism.
The Multiplier Event was attended by speakers from Greece and abroad (Denmark, United Kingdom, Italy), who developed the theme of accessible tourism and presented good business practices that are a prototype in accessibility issues.
Then, Dr. Dimitris Koutoulas made a review of the course of Tourism in Greece and the future of Accessible Tourism in our country.
Very interesting were also the speeches by foreign speakers who mentioned the problems faced in their own countries, the challenges and the good practices. Mr. Pete Hodgson has presented how work-based learning can be successfully combined, Ms. Bodil Mygind Madsen for tourism in older ages, and Mr. Daniele Colombo for Tourism in Italy.
The Multiplier Event could not lack innovation and technology that were the main point in both speeches of Dr. Spyros Syrmakessis and Mr. Ignatios Fotiou .
Dr. Spyros Syrmakessis presented a pilot-developed innovation, E-PARKS, that aims to improve accessibility to protected areas.
Accordingly, Mr. Ignatios Fotiou presented the innovative SEATRAC mechanism, which allows people with mobility difficulties to approach the sea while maintaining their autonomy.
The Multiplier closed with the speech of Panagiotis Alexandrakis which had the theme “Tourism for all: its importance for the development“.
